Mae's older sister Abbie ran away from home eight years ago. Long enough that Mae has gotten on with her life, and come to terms with being her aging father's only family. So when Abbie reappears one night, wearing an outlandish outfit complete with golden axes at each hip, and explaining that she's been living on another world--where she was queen of a species of talking cats--Mae is sure her sister's lost her mind.
